Guidelines for Private Lesson Figure Skaters

All skaters are expected to know and observe these guidelines. Appropriate dress, behavior, and language are required. These rules are for the safety and benefit of all skaters.

  • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your first session. This gives you time to stretch and warm-up before stepping on the ice.
  • Please check in at the Suburban Ice Front Desk prior to getting on the ice. If you have not contracted the ice time, either pay the walk on fee or have your punch card marked.
  • Dress appropriately. Females should wear dresses, leotards, or leggings with a t-shirt. It is important that your body, extensions, shoulders, arms, and hands be seen.
  • Hair should always be worn up, off the neck with bangs out of your eyes. Always keep extra hair bands and clips in your skating bag.
  • Please throw away tissues in the wastebasket located inside the music box area.
  • Water or natural fruit juice only are allowed by the ice area. PLASTIC BOTTLES ONLY! Eating and chewing gum are not allowed on the ice.
  • If you need to retie your skates, please step into the hockey boxes, being careful not to interrupt the flow of traffic when stepping back onto the ice.
  • Foul language and purposely kicking or gouging the ice is forbidden. You will be asked to leave the ice (by any coach), forfeiting your money for the session.
  • All skaters are expected to keep their head up and be aware of their surroundings. Be aware of the Freestyle Etiquette Rules located in the Music Box knowing who has the right of way on the ice.
  • Never interrupt another skater’s lesson unless it’s an emergency.

  • Talking and socializing is not allowed on the ice. Please save it for the lobby.

  • ALWAYS be courteous and respectful to other skaters and Professionals.

  • Spectators and Parents should view skaters from the lobby and bleachers only. Please do not communicate with your skater during a session unless it is an emergency.
